Based in NYC, DJ Pjay brings global vibes to his music, blending Latin, hip-hop, African rhythms, and R&B into high-energy tracks made for the dance floor. He’s played everywhere from the Playboy Mansion to 1 Oak, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

His latest release, “La Boca,” is an emotional party anthem featuring Chilean artist Fermo and guitarist Daniel Espiliz of Costa Rica’s Los Ajenos. It’s all about the feeling of that unforgettable first kiss - pure butterflies, pure magic.

We sat down with DJ Pjay to talk promotion, persistence, and what it really takes to turn music into a movement.

What moved the needle this release?

Sending human messages. Not ‘Hey, new song, please share’… but real notes to people who’d actually get the track. That made all the difference on Instagram. The reshares were organic because the outreach was real.”

What do most artists miss?

We obsess over mixing and mastering… then post about it twice and move on. Artists have to spend more energy promoting after the song goes live. The work doesn’t stop when it hits DSPs. That’s just the start.

What’s your biggest advice for artists trying to make a living?

You need both quality and quantity. Great music isn’t enough if no one hears it. You’ve got to drop consistently and create content that gives each song a real shot. Especially on TikTok - you never know which post hits.
